Long Hairstyles for Men

Volumous and free flowing, wear your wavy mane with proud by wearing it long. The longer length will demonstrate your curl at its finest, but be sure and have your stylist cut shape into your mane. You still will want to maintain control because a one-length style does not compliment curls the best. Once shaped, you can wear the waves au natural, or for a variation as shown in this picture, create a off-middle part, take a flat boar-bristle brush to the bang area and blow out the front smooth. This will relax the over-all effect of a wavy style. Use products that will fight humidity and control frizz. Finish the look with a few drops of a liquid shine product dispensed into your palms then dispersed through your wavy locks.

You do not have to live at the beach to have beach-like hair as on actor Taylor Kitsch. Grow your hair out to about chin length and mostly one-length all over. Have your stylist chip into the bottom with a light layering or texturizing to create added movement. If you don’t have access to sunny climate where the sun naturally kisses your hair, create a sun-kissed look to the hair by asking your stylist for an Ombre highlight (which goes lighter on the bottom graduating to darker at the roots) or have a few highlights painted randomly to your strands called a Balayage. The key to remember is that it should look as naturally sun-lightened as possible. Getting a traditional highlight by a foiling or mesh cap method looks too strategically placed. Spray your hair with a sea salt spray for added texture and you will look like you’ve hanged ten all day!

If you’ve been fortunate enough to be blessed with a thick, full head of hair, show it off by growing it out. Show off your gorgeous mane by having long layers cut all over, with layering also framing your face. You can do a severe part as in this picture by blow drying the hair into one direction heavily off to the side that naturally flows. You can roughly blow dry the remaining hair by tossing your fingers in your hair while it dries under the heat. It will create natural movement. Typically, the lighter your hair, the less it shines and the darker your hair, the more shine comes through. If you feel you need additional shine, use a shampoo and conditioner that specifically adds shine. Once dry, use a light hold shine pomade for control and added brilliance to ensure your thick head of hair does not look dull and dry.

Classically long straight hair can look good at any age. The key thing to remember is the texture of your hair. If you are thinning, either on top or in dimension, do not try to pull off long hair. Long stringy, drab hair looks terrible on anyone. But as long as you have a healthy head of hair, long straight hair can look mysterious, handsome and sexy! Be sure to keep your mane looking healthy by regularly washing and conditioning with moisturizing products. Regular trims are also important, as you will be susceptible to split ends that lead to breakage of the hair. Less is more in styling your hair so use just a simple leave-in cream conditioner that is lightweight and focused on the ends. Make sure your hair products smell good as you can be guaranteed that admiring hands will find their way to running through your longs strands.

Indeed, a little shaggy is sexy, as long as you’re not replicating the Scooby Doo character Shaggy. If you have natural wave to your hair, this is an excellent option to create style with a longer length. You can play with wearing your bangs forward, off to the side, or push back. Wear the style full around your face or tuck the sides behind your ears. Longer lengths allow you to switch up your style all with the same haircut. Your stylist should cut long layers for movement and the sides are slightly shorter, graduating into a longer nape length. This style should be pretty low maintenance for you; however, longer lengths can show off oils more easily. To prevent a greasy looking mop of hair, be sure to wash your hair regularly and condition the ends, as you will be prone to split ends with longer lengths. Work a light hold grooming cream to control; otherwise, a slightly messy mop is the goal in wearing this look.

You want to make a statement with your long hair that produces a positive response. Long hair can make a great statement, but essentially, long hair is old hair. As it ages, it is prone to environment damage, split ends and breakage from tying the hair up with rubber bands. Eliminate the chances of damage by taking care of your tresses. Hydrate the hair with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Do not skip out on the conditioner when you have longer lengths of hair! If you happen to be prone to oily build up on your scalp, then replace a cream rinse out conditioner with a light spray leave-in one that you concentrate only on the ends of your hair. Traditional rubber bands will absolutely cause breakage, therefore, if you must tie your hair back, prevent breakage by using hair ties that are designed to be less damaging. Heat will also cause damage to your hair, so look for a blow dryer that is made with a ceramic heating element. The internal ceramic unit smooths down the hair cuticle rather then blowing it open, and actually cuts down on drying time! After your hair is dry, add a few drops of a liquid shine product into your hands and work through your hair.

Long hair does not have to look messy or resemble a hippie. You can have a groomed sleek style even with long hair. Keep the hair trimmed around shoulder-length with a light layering through the ends. Any longer may be harder to control. After washing and conditioning with hydrating products needed for longer lengths of hair, dispense a light hold gel through your hair. You want control, not crunch, so be sure it is a light holding gel. Make a exaggerated side part with a fine toothed comb, going straight back with the part, not angled. Once your product is in and your part has been created, take a vented brush and blow dry the hair while working to keep the hair parted. You now have your hair sculpted and locked into shape. With a light hold pomade; work some through your hair to control any frizzing and polishing off the sleek effect.

A traditional bob is one length all around, meaning no layers, but can be angled straight all around or at an inverted angle. For a man, this may look freakishly like Johnny Depp’s version of Willy Wonka, so for the man-bob, layering and natural wave help to pull off this look stylishly. Keeping the bob looking masculine, the length should fall just at the jaw line. From there, your stylist can shape the hair to your natural texture. In this picture, the model has natural waves where the back and sides have been slightly stacked with layers. The front is still long which makes it distinguishable from becoming a shag haircut. You can also pull off the man-bob with straight hair. Tucking the strands behind the ears to show off the jaw line will keep the Willy Wonka look at bay. Style with a light hold gel or styling cream for control and definition.
