How to Get Straight Sexy Hair Long Hairstyles

Straight and sexy hair is back. But how can you get yours bouncin' and behavin'? You'll need to a prep serum or gel, a sturdy brush, a good source of heat, and spray to hold it all in place.

Say hello to straight. "The wave thing has been done to death," exclaims Harry Josh, creative consultant for John Frieda Collection. Straight hair is back for fall, "but it's a new straight," says Josh. "Not pin straight -- a softer, bouncy look reminiscent of hair that's been set in rollers, then brushed out." How can you get your hair bouncin' and behavin'?

"The key to this look is the flare at the ends," says Adrian Wallace, of the Rita Hazan Salon in New York City, who talks us through the five elements of this smooth style.

A heat-protective silicone serum will give your hair just enough slip to smooth it out while it keeps your fine strands from getting fried.

Major Long Hairstyles

I have to declare, after having little hair for so long, I am extremely happy to have matured it to a good length. Even though there are various good styles that can be complete with small hair, long hair gives you many more choice to achieve various special looks.

The major styles I like are relatively various, depending on whether I am leaving out, where I am going, operational etc. For mainly day-by-day purposes, I like to collect my hair somewhat insecurely and secure in a bobble at the top of my head, charge it doubled happy. Then the greatest mania to do is lightly tug the group at the back to divide the hair a small. But you have a long hair; you can join down every lose strand. Then I end by pulling some slim strands at the face sides and creation sure the crown of my head is careful and free, before final with a few hairs sprays.

My total favorite style whiles are locks, bags of them! I also use my strengtheners, my curling baton. If you apply a curling baton, they lean stay in greatly longer, but they are greatly tighter, moreover I like mining relatively free, as it shows a lot more normal. So my list is to coil your hair the nighttime before, as well as insecurely fix your hair up for divan. Then in the first light, sprint your fingers during it softly, and end with a few hairs sprays. You will look beautiful!

Whether your hair is coiled or directly, any more good simple style is to basically apply your hand to clean softly the hair to the wall, and fix the hair at single side, as a result your hair flows losing one carry. It's an extremely seductive look but simple to complete, and with some extensions for amount, you will consider like a divinity!

Cute Hairstyles - Ladder Braid Side Ponytail

The twins and I will be attending IMATS in Los Angeles this next weekend and would love to meet any fans who may also be attending. For anyone who does not know.  You can learn more information about it here.
For this weeks’ tutorial, we essentially show you two tutorials in one!  First, how to create a Feather Braid, and secondly, how to use that braid to create a cute Ladder Braid into a side ponytail.
Ladder Braid into Side Ponytail | Cute Hairstyles
We have used this braiding technique for awhile, although we are just now filming a tutorial… and some of my hair-blogging friends have great tutorials as well, such as Princess Hairstyles, Girly Do Hairstyles, and Babes in Hairland!
My twins are learning how to recreate this fun braid in their own hair, which is why we show you how to use it in a cute side braid… because it is easier to do on yourself that way!

The girls love this because the braid seems much more grown up than the simple ponytail version.
You will also note that this braid has a similar fun look as a few of our other ponytail combos, such as the Braided-Over Ponytail and the Side Fishtail Combo
Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 3 small hair elastics, hairspray and accessory {if desired}.
Time Requirement: 3-5 minutes
Skill Level: Hard
Step-by-Step Instructions:
  1. Begin by brushing all the hair over to one side, like you are gathering a side ponytail…
  2. Pick up a small section of hair on the underneath side of the head next to the nape of the neck, and secure the rest of the hair out of the way with a large hairband…
  3. Grabbing the small section, begin making a simple braid…
  4. As you go to cross over the outside-left strand of hair, pull out a tiny sliver-strand of hair and leave it out of the braid…
  5. Repeat the same with the next stitch of the braid. As you go to cross over the outside-left strand again, pull out a sliver-strand of hair and leave it out of the braid…
  6. Repeat until you have 2-3 inches left in the braid, and secure with an elastic.  This braid is what you call a Feather Braid.
  7. Now, release the rest of the hair from the large hairband and pick up another similar-sized small section of hair {this time near the front}…
  8. Braid approximately 4-5 stitches into this braid and then add the first sliver of hair from the Feather Braid into the middle strand…
  9. Complete one more stitch of the braid, and again, add in the 2nd sliver of hair from the Feather Braid into the middle strand…
  10. Continue until you run out of slivers to use, and then finish off with a normal braid and secure with an elastic. You should have a ladder looking braid sitting on top of the remaining hair.
  11. Now, reach your fingers through the bottom two “rungs” of the Ladder Braid and pull the remaining hair though the rungs…
  12. Remove both small elastics from the side braids, gather all of the ends together and secure with one hair elastic.
Enjoy!

The Best Haircuts for Long Hair 2013

I've had long hair envy for a long time. (I blame Gisele, perfect human specimen that she is.) But getting my own hair to grow longer than mid-back just isn't a possibility. Vitamins, scalp treatments, avoiding even trims  all futile.

Which is why I literally jumped up and down when hairstylists started telling me that the super-long hair trend is O-V-E-R. Instead, they universally declared that the best long haircuts range from clavicle-length to mid-back.

Skip ahead to see the best long haircuts.

And here's the best part: Not once did they utter the phrase "long layers," which has essentially been the only option for long hair up until now.

"Finally, there are so many interesting ways to wear your hair long," says Sebastian Professional Lead Stylist Design Team Member Janine Jarman. "And I'm so happy that too-long hair is going away." There are new trends in long hair -- and the best long haircuts are fresh and even more flattering.
The "mid-long" cut is a straight-across, blunt haircut that falls an inch above the bra strap. This length is perfect for someone who is ready to transition away from super-long hair but doesn't want to do anything too drastic. "It's my favorite length right now," says Jarman. "It swings forward beautifully, and it falls about three inches below your collarbones." This cut will make your hair appear super healthy, and it looks cute in a ponytail. "It has a lot of bounce," she says.

If you have a rounder face and you're worried about the heaviness of the mid-long cut, Jarman suggests adding a long side bang. It's not as much commitment as a blunt, straight-across fringe, and it will help define your face. "It should hit right about lip-length," she says. "This way you can wear it to the side or parted down the middle." Even if you try it and decide it's not for you, don't worry: "It's so easy to grow out," she says.
Celebrity hairstylist Sarah Potempa is having a "cool, rocker-chick moment," she says. Instead of the meticulously blended layers that have been the norm for years, she prefers choppy layers that are a little rough at the ends. This style works well with naturally wavy hair -- the more texture the better. And the length can vary from long to mid-length.

If you're looking to take the "blended texture" cut to the next level, Potempa suggests added blended long bangs. While blunt bangs are completely separate from the rest of your hair, these are longer on the sides so all the layers mix together. With this cut you have less flexibility with the length; it looks most modern at mid-back or shorter.

Long Hairstyles for Men

Volumous and free flowing, wear your wavy mane with proud by wearing it long. The longer length will demonstrate your curl at its finest, but be sure and have your stylist cut shape into your mane. You still will want to maintain control because a one-length style does not compliment curls the best. Once shaped, you can wear the waves au natural, or for a variation as shown in this picture, create a off-middle part, take a flat boar-bristle brush to the bang area and blow out the front smooth. This will relax the over-all effect of a wavy style. Use products that will fight humidity and control frizz. Finish the look with a few drops of a liquid shine product dispensed into your palms then dispersed through your wavy locks.

You do not have to live at the beach to have beach-like hair as on actor Taylor Kitsch. Grow your hair out to about chin length and mostly one-length all over. Have your stylist chip into the bottom with a light layering or texturizing to create added movement. If you don’t have access to sunny climate where the sun naturally kisses your hair, create a sun-kissed look to the hair by asking your stylist for an Ombre highlight (which goes lighter on the bottom graduating to darker at the roots) or have a few highlights painted randomly to your strands called a Balayage. The key to remember is that it should look as naturally sun-lightened as possible. Getting a traditional highlight by a foiling or mesh cap method looks too strategically placed. Spray your hair with a sea salt spray for added texture and you will look like you’ve hanged ten all day!

If you’ve been fortunate enough to be blessed with a thick, full head of hair, show it off by growing it out. Show off your gorgeous mane by having long layers cut all over, with layering also framing your face. You can do a severe part as in this picture by blow drying the hair into one direction heavily off to the side that naturally flows. You can roughly blow dry the remaining hair by tossing your fingers in your hair while it dries under the heat. It will create natural movement. Typically, the lighter your hair, the less it shines and the darker your hair, the more shine comes through. If you feel you need additional shine, use a shampoo and conditioner that specifically adds shine. Once dry, use a light hold shine pomade for control and added brilliance to ensure your thick head of hair does not look dull and dry.

Classically long straight hair can look good at any age. The key thing to remember is the texture of your hair. If you are thinning, either on top or in dimension, do not try to pull off long hair. Long stringy, drab hair looks terrible on anyone. But as long as you have a healthy head of hair, long straight hair can look mysterious, handsome and sexy! Be sure to keep your mane looking healthy by regularly washing and conditioning with moisturizing products. Regular trims are also important, as you will be susceptible to split ends that lead to breakage of the hair. Less is more in styling your hair so use just a simple leave-in cream conditioner that is lightweight and focused on the ends. Make sure your hair products smell good as you can be guaranteed that admiring hands will find their way to running through your longs strands.

Indeed, a little shaggy is sexy, as long as you’re not replicating the Scooby Doo character Shaggy. If you have natural wave to your hair, this is an excellent option to create style with a longer length. You can play with wearing your bangs forward, off to the side, or push back. Wear the style full around your face or tuck the sides behind your ears. Longer lengths allow you to switch up your style all with the same haircut. Your stylist should cut long layers for movement and the sides are slightly shorter, graduating into a longer nape length. This style should be pretty low maintenance for you; however, longer lengths can show off oils more easily. To prevent a greasy looking mop of hair, be sure to wash your hair regularly and condition the ends, as you will be prone to split ends with longer lengths. Work a light hold grooming cream to control; otherwise, a slightly messy mop is the goal in wearing this look.

You want to make a statement with your long hair that produces a positive response. Long hair can make a great statement, but essentially, long hair is old hair. As it ages, it is prone to environment damage, split ends and breakage from tying the hair up with rubber bands. Eliminate the chances of damage by taking care of your tresses. Hydrate the hair with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Do not skip out on the conditioner when you have longer lengths of hair! If you happen to be prone to oily build up on your scalp, then replace a cream rinse out conditioner with a light spray leave-in one that you concentrate only on the ends of your hair. Traditional rubber bands will absolutely cause breakage, therefore, if you must tie your hair back, prevent breakage by using hair ties that are designed to be less damaging. Heat will also cause damage to your hair, so look for a blow dryer that is made with a ceramic heating element. The internal ceramic unit smooths down the hair cuticle rather then blowing it open, and actually cuts down on drying time! After your hair is dry, add a few drops of a liquid shine product into your hands and work through your hair.

Long hair does not have to look messy or resemble a hippie. You can have a groomed sleek style even with long hair. Keep the hair trimmed around shoulder-length with a light layering through the ends. Any longer may be harder to control. After washing and conditioning with hydrating products needed for longer lengths of hair, dispense a light hold gel through your hair. You want control, not crunch, so be sure it is a light holding gel. Make a exaggerated side part with a fine toothed comb, going straight back with the part, not angled. Once your product is in and your part has been created, take a vented brush and blow dry the hair while working to keep the hair parted. You now have your hair sculpted and locked into shape. With a light hold pomade; work some through your hair to control any frizzing and polishing off the sleek effect.

A traditional bob is one length all around, meaning no layers, but can be angled straight all around or at an inverted angle. For a man, this may look freakishly like Johnny Depp’s version of Willy Wonka, so for the man-bob, layering and natural wave help to pull off this look stylishly. Keeping the bob looking masculine, the length should fall just at the jaw line. From there, your stylist can shape the hair to your natural texture. In this picture, the model has natural waves where the back and sides have been slightly stacked with layers. The front is still long which makes it distinguishable from becoming a shag haircut. You can also pull off the man-bob with straight hair. Tucking the strands behind the ears to show off the jaw line will keep the Willy Wonka look at bay. Style with a light hold gel or styling cream for control and definition.
